PTSA Lifetime Member Awards

Shepton PTSA honors Four Recipients with Texas Lifetime Member Awards
2009 - 2010

The Shepton PTSA was honored to award two staff and two parent members with Texas Life member Awards and two parents with Extended Service Awards at this year's Life Member Banquet. Each recipient whether staff or parent member, exhibits qualities that exemplify why our students succeed be it by mentoring or by example. The honor is bestowed not because they have a high profile position, but because of what they have accomplished.

Our first parent recipient is Shelly Heinmiller; she was the PTSA Parliamentarian last year here at Shepton. She has also worked in the attendance office and the school store. She has served in PTA throughout her children’s school years and is glad to lend a helping hand.

The second parent recipient is Holly Nichols who is serving her second year as our Reflections Chairperson. She has worked in many PTA positions over the years, including school store and bringing food and gift cards. Holly also volunteers at her church and in the community in many ways. They both give of their time freely and by example show our students how important volunteering your time can be.

As you know, our Staff at Shepton is the best. There is no job that is too small or not important. Our first staff recipient is Jane Clanahan, the lead counselor here at Shepton and works with the AVID students as their counselor. Jane takes on the enormous responsibility as the campus testing coordinator and also volunteers at her church.

Our second staff recipient, Amy Henderson, is the Spanish team leader and serves as the sponsor for our International Club which has over 100 members. Amy has participated in the Plano Santas program for the past ten years.

Our first Extended Service Award goes to Becky Byrley. Becky is the Newsletter Chairperson at Shepton and Directory Chairperson and webmaster at Plano West though her son in no longer in PISD. Becky uses her many talents to help all students and families stay informed.

Our second Extended Service recipient is Jamie Hanna. Jamie is currently serving her second year as Shepton’s PTSA President. Jamie doesn’t just volunteer, she embraces any project she has taken on and gives of herself tirelessly.

Congratulations to all our honorees for their service to our children and our community, Thank You!
